With a little planning and research, you can take your vacation from good to "GREAT." According to the Travel Industry Association, 79 million Americans (or 78% of online travel consumers) used the internet for some or all of their travel information in 2005 and that number is steadily increasing. Bargain hunting, price comparison, and accessing travel reviews can all be done from your favorite lounge chair. Here are some web sites that may be useful when planning your next GREAT ESCAPE!
www.farecast.com By entering your destination and travel dates, the site provides you with fare predictions, fare histories, and links to sites where you can purchase airline tickets.
www.kayak.com provides you with lists of the lowest or timeliest trip results and then links you directly to the service providers so that you can purchase your flights, car rentals, etc.
www.budgettravel.com this site provides articles on current travel info, planning tools, and links to live "chats."
www.lovemyseat.com provides everything you need to know about the airline floor plan and seat configurations.
If you know of any great travel web sites, let us know and we'll add them to this blog.

Here is a little proof that you can’t always believe the headlines. Imagine if you had made your decisions based on these headlines. Imagine if you had purchased a home each of these years what your net worth would look like today.
“The prices of houses seem to have reached a plateau, and there is reasonable expectancy that prices will decline.”
– Time Magazine, 1947
"Houses cost too much for the mass market. Today’s average price is out of reach for two-thirds of all buyers." ( Average Price at the time: $8,000 )
– Science Digest, 1948
– Business Week, 1969
“The era of easy profits in real estate may be drawing to a close.” (Average price at the time: $28,000)
– Money Magazine, 1981
“If you are looking to buy, be careful. Rising home values are not a sure thing anymore.”
– Miami Herald, 1985
“Most economists agree...a home will become little more than a roof and a tax deduction, certainly not the lucrative investment it was....”
– Money Magazine, 1986
“We’re starting to go back to the time when you bought a home not for it’s potential moneymaking abilities, but rather as a nesting spot.”
– Los Angeles Times, 1993 (Note: 1993 was the absolute low-point for real estate values in Los Angeles. Priced have skyrocketed since.)
“Financial planners agree that houses will continue to be a poor investment.”
– Kiplinger’s Personal Financial Magazine, 1993
“A home is where the bad investment is.”
– San Francisco Examiner. 1996
